FAQ
Q: Can I come to Cazimi if I’m not queer or POC?
A: Yes! While Cazimi is a space that centers exceptional, but strategically under resourced communities, we are open to folks of all identities visiting for a retreat. We just ask that you be mindful of the space you occupy by practicing awareness, humility and spaciousness in shared spaces so those centered can feel fully held. Some groundwork beforehand – like reading our community agreements and listening to the suggested audiobook “We Will Rest!” by Tricia Hersey – will be a helpful start.
Q: How long is a typical retreat?
A: Our retreats typically run from Fridays at 2pm through Mondays at 11am, although some retreats may be longer. Visit our retreats page to see specifications for the retreat you’re considering.
Q: What is the lodging like?
A: All of the sites we host are are cozy, intimate homes—more sanctuary than resort. Expect soft lighting, shared spaces that invite connection, and bedrooms that ease you into a soft slumber. Rooms are a mix of shared and private, bathrooms are shared, and everything is created with intention, comfort, and care. It’s simple, soulful, and designed to feel like you can finally set something heavy down.

Q: Can I bring other members of my family? (pets / kids / partners)
A: Most often than not, we cannot accommodate pets as our sweet cat Millie tends to join us on retreats. If you have an accessibility request, reach out to us and we will assess our capacity. Kids are welcome on specified parent/child retreats – this will be made clear on our retreats page. Otherwise, we ask that you do not bring your children. If you purchased a private room, you’re welcome to add on an additional adult guest that will share a bed with you for a fee.
Q: What types of events / activities / workshops should I expect when I visit Cazimi?
A: Expect to exhale.
At Cazimi, our gatherings feel like a soft landing place for your spirit. You might begin your day with tea and meditation, wander to the beach for an afternoon dip, create art or medicine with your hands, sit by the fire with others, share nourishing meals, laugh, cry, and rest deeply. Every offering is crafted with care to reconnect you to yourself, to community, and to the earth.
Q: Can I teach a workshop at Cazimi?
A: Most likely, yes! If you have an idea for a workshop or skill you’d like to teach throughout your retreat, send us an email (cazimicollective@gmail.com) with your idea and what support is needed to make it happen so we can assess if we have those resources available. If you’d like to host a workshop outside of a retreat, email us at cazimicollective@gmail.com.
Q: Is a retreat at Cazimi structured? Is there a schedule that I have to follow?
A: We will have a schedule of things happening around Cazimi that you are welcome to attend, or not! It’s your retreat and afterall, you know what you need much better than we do. If you want to attend every scheduled event, please do. If you want to spend all day reading in the hammock, that’s just as valuable.
Q: Is Cazimi accessible for disabled or neurodivergent guests?
A: We do our best to make Cazimi a welcoming and accessible space for a wide range of bodies and brains, and we’re continuously learning and improving. The Sandbridge house is multi-level with stairs, so full mobility access may be limited. You can find a full overview of accessibility features and considerations for the Sandbridge house here. Please note that not all retreats take place at this location, so email us with any site-specific questions. If you have access needs—physical, sensory, neurodivergent, chronic illness, or otherwise—please reach out before booking so we can share what support we can offer and make sure this retreat will truly hold you with care.

Q: Are meals included? What about dietary restrictions?
A: Yes. All meals are included and prepared with intention, warmth, and nourishment at the heart of them. Our meals lean plant-based, seasonal, and grounding—think comfort, color, and care on a plate. We do our best to accommodate common dietary needs such as gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. If your needs are more specific, there will be an opportunity to let us know in an intake form after you secure your spot online.

Q: What’s your policy around alcohol, substances, and phone use?
A: Cazimi is a space of presence, consent, and attunement. Light and mindful substance or alcohol use is okay for those who choose it, though we do not supply any alcohol or substances. We only ask that care, consent, and awareness are at the center of any choices you make.

We also lovingly encourage unplugging. You’re welcome to have your phone—life happens—but many guests choose to step away from the noise and find it deeply restorative. We invite you to join us in practicing mindful tech use so we can cocreate a calm, grounded field together.

Q: Can I come to a Cazimi retreat alone?
A: Absolutely. Many guests arrive solo and leave feeling deeply seen, supported, and part of something tender and alive. You’re invited to move at the pace your heart needs—whether that looks like soft connection, quiet reflection, or a gentle weaving of both. You will be welcomed exactly as you are.

Q: What should I pack?
A: We’ll send a detailed packing list once you register, but generally think: comfortable clothing you can move and rest in, a swimsuit for the beach, layers for outdoor time, a journal, slippers or house shoes and anything that helps you feel cozy and supported. You don’t need anything fancy—we prioritize comfort over performance (although a cute outfit for karaoke is always encouraged).

Q: Do you offer payment plans or financial support?
A: Yes. Rest is a birthright, not a luxury. We offer payment plans so cost isn’t a barrier to accessing this space. A non-refundable deposit (typically half or less of the retreat cost) secures your spot, and the remaining balance is invoiced for a later date.

We also encourage folks to invite community support if that feels aligned—we have an email and social media toolkit you’re welcome to use for fundraising or resource-gathering. Tag us, and we’re always happy to boost your post.

We are continually working to keep retreat costs as accessible as possible while still nourishing our team and facilitators. We do this through grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and other forms of resource-sharing. When we are able to offer discounted or sponsored spots, we prioritize QTBIPOC retreaters with financial need.

Q: What if I’m introverted or socially anxious? Will I still enjoy it?
A: We sure hope so! Cazimi is built with softness at its core—no forced sharing, no expectation to be “on,” no pressure to perform joy, openness, or connection. You’re free to dip in and out of group space at your own rhythm. Many introverted and tender-hearted guests find this environment nourishing because there is room for silence, slowness, and simply being.
